Eddy Lim

Saxophonist/Tenor

Originally a vocal graduate from UCSI University in Malaysia, Eddy Lim You Cheng, a Malaysian-born saxophonist started his passion on the instrument towards the end of his years in the university. After graduating, he started to work as a full-time saxophone player in the DBKL Orchestra, a semi-government funded orchestra. Besides that, Eddy also worked as a freelance musician, where he got the opportunity to perform with various bands throughout the country. One of the highlights is getting into the Top 10 finalists in the “1st Passport to Fame Battle of the Band” competition in 2011 with the band called “Got a Match”. With the influence from his Saxophone tutor and Friends, he started to gain some interest in jazz and decided to explore more about the genre.

He is currently pursuing his Masters in Birmingham Conservatoire and is currently under the tutelage under 3 great tutors: Percy Pursglove, Mike Williams and Jean Toussaint. His ambition is to become a music educator who aims to share his musical knowledge with the younger and new generations back in his home country.
