Lillian Yu
Pianist/Soprano
Lillian Lingling Yu was born in Hefei, China. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Music in piano performance at Birmingham Conservatoire under the guidance of Mark Bebbington. Prior to studying at the Conservatoire, She has studied in her city with a piano tutor who is teaching at The Music College of Anhui. After she finished senior high school, she came to the UK and studied Music Foundation of Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts in 2014. She has studied piano performance with Vivian Choi.
Yu has played complete Beethoven’s Sonatas include Op5 No23, Op10 No3 and Chopin’s Etudes Op10 No4, Op10 No8, Op25 No1. She has also played numerous Preludes and Fugues by J.S. Bach. Except classical repertoire, she has played some modern pieces such as El Albaicin by Isaac Albéniz.
Yu has won a number of prizes in different piano competitions in Hefei. She received the international students scholarship from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2015.
