Faith Tu 

Flutist/Soprano 

Faith Si Jing Tu was born in China and educated in Singapore. She has been studying at the School Of The Arts Singapore under the tuition of Roberto Alvarez, principal piccolo player of Singapore Symphony Orchestra, since the age of 14. In 2015, she was awarded the international students scholarship to pursue her Bachelor of Music Degree at Birmingham Conservatoire, major in instrumental performance, under the guidance of Judith Hall.

 

Tu is the recipient of a number of awards, including the third prize in the third Flute Festival Singapore Solo Competition, the first prize in Singapore Ensemble Competition, and the third prize in Singapore Flute Festival Competition. She has also been invited to perform in a number of masterclasses with distinguished artists, including Denis Bouriakov, Erin Jr. Bouriakov, William Bennett and Andrea Griminelli.

 

Tu is an active flutist and chamber music player. As a soloist, she has performed Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto in C Major, and CPE Bach’s Flute Concerto in D minor. She is also actively participating in orchestras. She regularly plays with the main ensembles at the conservatoire including the Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra. Prior to studying at the conservatoire, she was the member of Orchestra of the Music Makers, The Philharmonic Orchestra and Singapore National Youth Orchestra.
